Vitaly Kovalenko explained in court that he was at home with his family in the morning when he heard his wife's cry from the corridor: “Vitaly, help!”. The accused ran out, saw that the son was in the corridor in front of the door, crying and shouting: “Daddy!”, And the wife was in the vestibule and shouting that it was necessary to close the front door. Vitaly saw at least four men in tracksuits and masks, was in a state of shock from what was happening and thought that bandits or alcoholics were breaking into his apartment: the policemen had no identification marks. Someone held the door by the handle, for some time it was pulled between Vitaly and the unknown, until the accused heard a cry: “Hand! Fingers!". Then Kovalenko let go of the door, after which it closed easily. Prior to this outcry, the accused heard only swearing from behind the door from those who broke into his apartment, no one introduced themselves and did not say that they were from the police. Vitaly did not see his hands and fingers, he did not feel that he could break them with the door, but he admitted that this could have happened.

Kovalenko noted that if he knew right away that they were policemen, then this situation would not have happened at all. He never had problems with the police, there was no reason to be afraid of employees.

As a result, the judge found Vitaly Kovalenko guilty and punished him with three years of “chemistry”, and also decided to recover from him 3,000 rubles in compensation in favor of the victim.
