Gennady Kapitanov is a certified instructor in Krav Maga (an Israeli-developed military hand-to-hand combat system) with over ten years of experience. He was one of two Belarusian athletes who participated in the first official world championship in the sport of "martial arts" in 2017 in Israel, and also judged the first Krav Maga competition in Minsk in 2019.
Yuri Shchuchko is outside Belarus and the criminal case against him was investigated and then tried without any of his participation. The current authorities call this method of in absentia repression "in the order of special proceedings".
He was involved in the criminal case of "Svetlana Tikhanovskaya's analysts". The trial in the special proceedings took place in the Minsk Regional Court from May 31 to July 1. There were 20 defendants in the case. According to the case materials , all of them were accused of committing "extremist crimes" in connection with the election campaign of Alexander Lukashenko, as well as in the post-electoral period.
