Dmitry was detained in a criminal case opened after a protest that took place on September 13, 2020 in Brest, where people sang and danced in circles and a water cannon was used against them. He was convicted of "participation in group actions that grossly violate public order."

In April 2023, it became known that Dmitry was given an additional sentence - 5 months of imprisonment. According to released political prisoners, he was also convicted under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

According to human rights activists, he was released in the fall of 2023 after the expiration of the sentence imposed by the court.
