Kirill was detained early in the morning in February 2023 as he was leaving his apartment building on his way to work. Following a search, he was placed under administrative arrest for 15 days, but was not released after the search. He was charged with financing the activities of an extremist group.

That summer, he was convicted of donating money to the "By_help," "BYSOL," and "Honest People" initiatives through the "Facebook Fundraising" payment system from June 2020 to May 2021. At the hearing, he was presented with six donations of $10 each.
