Alexander Nikolaevich Mokhorev
Alexander Nikolaevich Mokhorev is involved in politically motivated repressions in the Republic of Belarus. Mokhorev is responsible for the fact that, as a judge of the Sovetsky District Court of the city of Gomel, he makes politically motivated sentences against representatives of civil society. In judicial practice, Alexander Mokhorev considers not only administrative cases, but also criminal ones. As a result of his decisions, many Belarusians who opposed the repressive regime in force in the country were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. In particular, on April 7, 2021, the judge sentenced political prisoner Vladimir Nepomnyashchy to two years and six months in prison in a general regime colony. On December 9, 2021, Mokhorev sentenced political prisoner Yevgeny Morenets to three years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. In 2022, Alexander Mokhorev sentenced a resident of Gomel for comments on the Internet to one and a half years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. Thus, Alexander Nikolaevich Mokhorev is responsible for human rights violations and undermining the principles of the rule of law, as well as for promoting repression against representatives of civil society and the democratic opposition. His work within the judiciary is focused on maintaining the position of the existing government, rather than on enforcing the law. Mokhorev's actions contribute to human rights violations, strengthening the power of Alexander Lukashenko and increasing politically motivated repression in the Republic of Belarus.
