At the initiative of the administration of the Gomel colony, a criminal case was opened against Elena under Part 1 of Art. 411 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. In addition, she was deprived of almost all programs, calls, dates, and the otovarka was reduced from three basic units to one (32 rubles).

After seven days of administrative arrest, she was not released. Katerina was transferred to a detention center in Zhodzina.

On February 18, 2021, she was sentenced to 2 years in prison and sent to a general regime correctional colony.

On February 10, 2022, Katerina was transferred from correctional colony No. 4 to the Gomel pre-trial detention center in connection with “procedural actions”.

On April 7, 2022, it became known that the journalist was charged with a new charge of "treason against the state" ( Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code ). On July 4, 2022, the case began to be considered behind closed doors by the judge of the Gomel Regional Court Oleg Khoroshko . On July 13, he appointed Katerina 8 years and 3 months in a colony under a reinforced regime.

The social activist was detained on January 3, 2021 at her home after security forces broke down the door and conducted a search, seizing some of her belongings. Polina was sentenced to two years in prison under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. She refused to testify both during the investigation and at trial.

In April 2022, another year in prison was added to Polina’s sentence for disobeying the administration’s demands, and in October 2023 she was again sentenced under the same article to one year and three days in prison.

The political prisoner is subjected to systematic psychological pressure and physical violence. She was repeatedly placed in a punishment cell, a punishment cell and a PKT.

In March 2024, when propagandists filmed a story about a political prisoner, Polina’s yellow tag was caught in the frame - it indicated that her prison term was supposed to end on May 21. But on this date, Polina did not leave; she was charged for the third time with “disobedience to the administration of the colony.”
