Sergei was accused of posting a comment in a Telegram chat that, according to investigators, insulted former Interior Minister Yuri Karaev. The investigation found that he had “damaged the authority of state power” and “humiliated the honor and dignity” of the major general.
He was released in June 2023, having fully served his sentence as determined by the court.
