From 2020, a criminal case was conducted against Siarhei over a comment on Odnoklassniki about the head of the GUBOPiK, Mikalai Mikalayevich Karpiankou: his home was searched, he was fired from his job and his car was seized. On 14 March 2022, Siarhei was detained by GUBOPiK officers, and another criminal case was opened against him, for insulting Lukashenko. He was held in custody until the trial.
In April 2022, Siarhei was found guilty in a criminal case opened under the article "Insulting a representative of the authorities" and sentenced to restricted freedom with referral to an open-type correctional facility. After the verdict, he was released until the start of serving his sentence.
The case of insulting Lukashenko remained unfinished. Siarhei has serious health problems and has undergone two operations.
