In January 2022, he was found guilty of "insulting a government official" for posting an obscene comment about female riot police officers under a Telegram post, allegedly intending to "damage the authority of state power, its representatives, and their honor and dignity."
According to human rights activists, Maxim was released in 2024, having fully served his sentence.
