originally from Buda-Koshelev in Belarus, he was engaged in activism and was a volunteer of the "Country for Life". Ivan Sautin was detained while trying to cross the border with Poland. Detained May 27, 2022 again. At the end of June he was extradited to Belarus. Earlier, he was charged under four articles of the Criminal Code, including terrorism, insulting a government official. As a result, three of the four articles were withdrawn following the results of an audit by the Russian side, which is also confirmed by pro-government channels.
UPD. According to the materials of the case, in 2018 he embezzled more than 68 thousand rubles. At the same time, the investigation notes that in 2020 he participated in protests, "made videos, harassed services, local authorities."
Due to the presence of these facts of persecution for the manifestation of civic position and activity, we believe that Ivan's sentence should at least be reviewed.
