In August 2020, in protest against the violent dispersal of peaceful actions, Semchenko resigned. Dmitry and his wife were detained on September 15 in Minsk. Yulia was later released, and Dmitry was left behind bars until the trial. A day later, the man was arrested for 15 days. But after 15 days, Dmitry did not go free and was sentenced to another 13 days of arrest under Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code for distributing «extremist materials» on his social networks. When Dmitry Semchenko was not released on October 13, 2022, it became known that a criminal case had been opened against him.
