Denis was detained during a protest action, the March of Justice, which took place in Minsk on September 20, 2020. He was initially arrested on administrative charges, but later a criminal case was opened against him and he was convicted of “resisting a police officer.”
According to human rights activists, he was released in early 2023, having fully served his sentence imposed by the court.
