Alexey Ilyinchik is a Gomel bard and musician.
In the spring of 2022, the man had a stroke, so Alexey had to spend several months in the hospital, as rehabilitation after the disease was problematic and the right side of the body was taken away.
Alexey was detained on August 18, 2022, the reason remained unknown for a long time, since the man had only a state lawyer who did not contact any of his relatives and acquaintances.
On March 28, 2023, the Gomel Regional Court issued the final verdict in the case of Alexey. He was charged with slandering Alexander Lukashenko (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus), insulting the President (Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) and inciting other social enmity or discord (Part 1 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
During his stay in pre-trial detention center-3 and in the correctional colony, Alexei’s health deteriorated. His right hand has almost no function, his speech apparatus is impaired, so he speaks with difficulty. He also cannot write letters on his own. On October 1, 2023, it is known that Alexey Ilyinchik was placed in the neurological department of the Republican Hospital, which is located on the territory of pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Minsk.
