Kirill was arrested in September 2021 in connection with a criminal case opened for online comments following the deaths of KGB officer Dmitry Fedosyuk and IT specialist Andrei Zeltser in Minsk.
The trial began in the winter of 2023. Initially, it was known that Kirill was charged with "calls for restrictive measures (sanctions), other actions aimed at harming the national security of the Republic of Belarus," "assisting extremist activity," and "insulting Lukashenko." However, it later emerged that the court was only considering the charge of "organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them."
In February 2023, he was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment in a penal colony.
He was released in June 2023, having fully served his sentence.
