On 10 March 2022, Iryna was detained in Brest. According to the prosecution, from January to March she hung white-red-white and yellow-blue ribbons and flags around the city and wrote chalk and pencil graffiti against the war, Putin and Lukashenko on building facades.
In August 2022, Iryna was found guilty in a criminal case opened under several articles, including insulting Lukashenko and "Hooliganism", and sentenced to imprisonment. She defended herself at trial without a lawyer and said she had been pressured during the investigation.
Her letters did not get through while she was in custody: not a single letter came from Iryna in four months, and mail sent to her was returned to the senders.
Released in May 2023 after serving her full sentence.
