Artsiom was a third-year student at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR). On 26 October 2020, together with other students, he went into lecture rooms and called on students to join the nationwide strike. In one of the rooms he got into an argument with dean Leanid Shylin, and the video of it later spread online. At the trial, teachers and students said classes had been interrupted for 5–15 minutes, and according to the case files the university suffered no damage.
The next day Artsiom was detained, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs later published a video in which he apologizes to the dean.
In January 2021, Artsiom was found guilty in a criminal case initiated under the article "Organization and preparation of actions grossly violating public order, or active participation in them" and sentenced to restricted freedom with referral to an open-type correctional facility. He was released in the courtroom.
Later, Artsiom left Belarus.
In December 2024, an in absentia court hearing was held under special proceedings on toughening his punishment. The outcome of the hearing is unknown.
