Since 1996, he has been actively involved in the life of Catholic youth. He participated in local and parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2004. He was one of the initiators of the formation of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party. But since 2011 he has withdrawn from active participation in political life.

He was convicted, among other things, for posting information about the «‎Freedom March» on his page on August 15, 2020, on August 17 he posted information in which he analyzes the mistakes of the last march, on August 20, 2020 he posted information about how to act when suppressing protests by law enforcement officers. He left more than twenty such messages.

Artyukhov was also accused of direct participation in one such action in Minsk in August 2020.

The news about the detention of two friends (Denis Pischalo, 25 years old and Ilona Zaitsava, 24 years old) was published in the telegram channels supporting the current government of the Republic of Belarus.In the video of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ilona admits (under pressure from law enforcement officials) that she took part in protest actions and made reposts from telegram channels, which are already recognized as extremist formations in Belarus.

In the winter of 2021, Ilona was convicted under Article 23.34. (Article 342 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus now). She ordered to pay a monetary penalty 2030 BYN (838,84 USD).She worked as a nurse at the Health Care Institution «‎Minsk Clinical Center of Phthisiopulmonology», Minsk.

At the end of October 2022, six men were detained in Minsk for allegedly hanging a sewn white-red-white flag along with the flag of Ukraine on power line supports in Minsk on October 7. These are Igor Tepteev, Yuri Nesterenko, Victor Grinko, Valery Balabeshko, Vladimir Savelyev, Igor Tikach. Only the next day a post appeared on Anton Mot’s Telegram channel with a photo of the flag and the caption: “Minsk residents congratulate the Ukrainian people on the wonderful news from the Crimean bridge. Crime is Ukraine! Long live Belarus! Glory to Ukraine!”

It is reported that it was Yuri who took the photo, which later appeared in Anton Motolko’s tg channel. But Yuri himself said that he sent the photo only to a friendly chat.

On September 14, 2023, an appeal hearing was held. The verdict came into force.
