She was detained together with her husband after she returned from Poland to Belarus for participating in protest actions in 2020.
At first, the spouses were convicted under an administrative article. But Varvara was never released after her administrative arrest — a criminal case was opened against her under Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and transferred to the pre-trial detention center («SIZO-1»).
Varvara and Pavel are a family of photographers from Minsk, they have been together for more than ten years, and their creative duo has existed for as long. They specialize in wedding photos.
