Vladimir was accused of administering the community in vk.com calling for the recognition of the Belarusian language as the only state language in Belarus.
In February 2021, Vladimir Butkovets appealed to the Investigative Committee of Gomel with a request to interrogate him as a witness in the case of a human rights defender Leonid Sudalenko, to whom he repeatedly applied for legal assistance.
In the summer of 2022, Vladimir was dismissed from his job as «politically unreliable».
Vladimir was detained on September 5, 2022, he was sentenced to seven days of arrest under Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code for «distribution of extremist materials».
