In November 2020, VladimirChurilowas among eight other workers at the Moscow Oil Refinery (MOR) who were summonedtothe MozyrDistrict Police Department and refusedrelease, facingadministrative charges for exercising their right to freedom of peaceful assembly. On October 27, 2020, the menstood at the plant's entrance with signs supporting peaceful protests against the falsification of the presidential election results and violence against civilians by the ruling regime's security forces. The workers were subsequently persecuted .
Vladimir Churilo, as the lead engineer and technologist at the fuel-catalytic plant processing sulfur crude, was repeatedly mentioned in the plant and industry newspapers as a "Best Employee," inventor, and innovator. He received awards from the refinery's management.
