On June 11, 2020, officers from the Financial Investigations Department searched the Belgazprombank office and the homes of individuals associated with Babariko, after which Vladimir was detained. In September 2021, a court found him guilty of abuse of office and fraud, but he did not admit guilt.
In May 2026, it became known that Vladimir had been released at the beginning of 2025. It is assumed that , due to the fact that the sentence was formally non-political, he could have been eligible for amnesty, which is why he was released earlier.
