Veranika was detained on December 9, 2021, and was held in custody until her trial.
In March 2022, she was found guilty in a criminal case initiated under the article "Organisation and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them" for taking part in the post-election protests held in Minsk in 2020.
Veranika later left Belarus.
In December 2024, court hearings on toughening her punishment were held in absentia as part of special proceedings.
