Vera, a Russian citizen, was arrested in January 2022 on criminal charges for participating in a post-election protest that took place in Minsk in 2020.

In August 2020, Vera's photo was on the front page of the Belarusian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

In May 2022, she was found guilty of "organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them" and sentenced to imprisonment.

She was released in October 2022, having fully served her sentence as imposed by the court.

After her release, Vera was immediately taken to the Russian border, as she had been banned from entering Belarus for five years. She wasn't even allowed to pack her things before being deported.
