Svyatoslav was found guilty in December 2020 of resisting a police officer or other person maintaining public order. He was accused of resisting arrest on September 17, 2020, during a solidarity chain in Minsk when he attempted to join the protesters carrying the Russian flag. He was subsequently beaten by riot police. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was taken from the Pervomaisky District Police Department to intensive care, then to the surgical ward, where police officers placed him in custody and handcuffed him to a hospital bed for 72 hours.
