Svetlana, deputy director of Minsk Gymnasium No. 42, was detained in December 2021 along with her daughter, Yana, as part of a criminal case opened under the article "organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them." They were first detained in a temporary detention facility and later in a pretrial detention center.
In April 2022, she was found guilty of participating in protests that took place in Minsk in 2020 and sentenced to imprisonment in a penal colony.
She was released in the fall of 2023, having fully served her sentence as determined by the court.
