Sergei Skulovets left Belarus in June 2023. He had worked for Belsat since its inception: on the program "Pres-Express," then "Salda," where he hosted, worked in the news department, and, since 2018, in the online editorial office. When he was warned that another wave of repression against journalists was expected, his family decided to emigrate and now lives in the United States. Already in exile, Sergei Skulovets gave an interview about persecution by the authorities, his departure, and life in America.
A criminal case has been opened against the former journalist under Part 1 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (“assistance to extremist activity”).
In the fall of 2024, Sergei was placed on the wanted list. His relatives in Belarus are constantly being searched and summoned for questioning.
