On 13 January 2022, Siarhei was detained and twice in a row sentenced to administrative arrest, for 15 and 12 days. He was never released: a criminal case was opened against him.
In June 2022, Siarhei was found guilty in a criminal case of insulting Lukashenko and representatives of the authorities over comments in Telegram chats and sentenced to imprisonment.
According to human rights defenders' calculations, he was released in December 2023 after serving his full sentence.
