Sergey is a military pensioner with the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is known that he participated in the protests — he was detained at the Sunday march on November 8, 2020. He was stripped of his military rank by Alexander Lukashenko.
During the trial, it was established that in January 2021, Sergei posted comments insulting Lukashenko and an employee of his Security Service on one of the Telegram channels recognized as extremist in the Republic of Belarus.
The judge handed down a sentence of imprisonment for a term of one year in a colony. But the prosecutor of the Bobruisk district brought an appeal.
The appeal was granted in full — the term of the final sentence in the form of imprisonment for a set of crimes was increased to two years.
