He was detained together with Mikalai Autukhovich under Article 289 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. All defendants were detained in December-January 2020. The authorities immediately declared Autukhovich the organizer and leader of a “terrorist group” that operated in the Grodno region and allegedly set fire to cars and houses of police officers. Depending on their role, they were charged with a total of 15 articles of the Criminal Code, and the case materials amounted to 65 volumes. The prosecution also alleged that Autukhovich was preparing terrorist attacks and collecting information about security forces at the direction of the Ukrainian special services.
