On October 25 and December 8, 2020, Kiryl was detained during post-election protests in Hrodna.

In March 2022, he was found guilty in a criminal case initiated under the articles "Inciting hatred or discord" and "Insulting a representative of the authorities". The circumstances of the case are unknown.

Released on June 29, 2024, after fully serving the sentence imposed by the court.
