Igor was arrested in September 2024 for calling for protests in chat rooms; a pro-government channel published a video of him. In the recording, he claims to have been a member of destructive chat rooms in 2020, where he allegedly "urged people to coordinate and damage state property." Security officials also showed screenshots of messages about "fake courtyard chat rooms" and "targeted exits for sabotage," but the author of these messages is unknown.
In March 2025, he was found guilty of “calls to actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus” and sentenced to imprisonment.
On December 13, 2025, he was released following a visit to Minsk by US President Donald Trump's special representative, John Cole, and taken to Ukraine.
