Galina was initially detained in the fall of 2021 on charges of participating in post-election protests. The charges were later reclassified, and after two months of detention, a court hearing was held. She was convicted of insulting a government official and sentenced to house arrest.
In February 2022, Galina was found guilty under a similar charge for comments left on a Telegram channel. The victims were Mikhail Sitko, Chairman of the Volkovysk District Executive Committee (the only one who did not file a claim for moral damages), Darya Bondarchuk and Maria Mazurkevich, OMON officers from the Grodno Department of Internal Affairs, Valery Romanchik, Chief of the Volkovysk District Police Service, and Vitaly Osotsky, Chief of the Volkovysk District Police Service.
The victims estimated their emotional distress at 5,000 rubles, while Galina's pension was 500 rubles. In her final statement, she said that imprisonment would be a "death sentence" for her, but Judge Andrei Tolochko delivered exactly that sentence.
Galina was released in September 2022 under a pardon.
