Dmitry Dashkevich is one of the most famous political figures in Belarus. He has been engaged in public activities since 2001. He was the head of the «Young Front», several times served long terms for political activity in Belarus. Dashkevich is also one of the organizers of the action «Night of the executed poets» and «Protection of Kuropat».
After the 2020 elections, Dashkevich was perhaps the only public opposition politician who remained in Belarus.
He was detained on March 23, 2022, sentenced to 15 days under an administrative article, during which time a criminal case was opened against Dmitry and after 15 days he was left in custody.
In July 2023, it became known that a new criminal case was opened against Dmitry for “malicious disobedience to the requirements of the administration of the correctional institution” (Article 411 of the Criminal Code).
On October 18, Judge Tatyana Derevyanko sentenced Dmitry to another year in prison under strict regime conditions.
