Alexey fully admitted his guilt and repented, the lawyer asked to release him from criminal liability and bring him to administrative liability, but Popkov requested one and a half years of restricted freedom without being sent to a correctional facility. Acted as a state prosecutor in the case of Levon Khalatryan and requested two years of restricted freedom with being sent to an open-type correctional facility for participating in a protest. Levon, a volunteer for Viktor Babariko's headquarters, was detained on August 11, 2020, near his home on charges of participating in a protest against the results of the presidential election held on August 9, 2020, in Minsk. He was later convicted of "participating in group actions that grossly violate public order."

He was released in May 2022, having fully served his sentence as determined by the court.
