She handed down guilty verdicts in politically motivated cases, where she imposed penalties in the form of a fine totaling at least 2,700 rubles. In 2013, she found Andrey Andreyev guilty under Part 2 of Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code and sentenced him to a fine of 20 basic units for distributing leaflets about the “People's Referendum”. In the same year, she found Konstantina Smolikova and Leonid Avtukhov guilty of violating the Law on Mass Media for distributing the Magistrate newsletter. She refused to provide Leonid Avtukhov with an interpreter and unreasonably raised her voice at him. As a result, Protas imposed a fine of 3 million rubles for each. In 2020, Polotsk blogger Ales Krutkin and Vitebsk activist Natalya Spiridonova were found guilty under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code for posting leaflets “College dictatorship Basta!” on the building of the Vitebsk DBK. She imposed a fine of 50 basic units for each person.
