Vladimir Martov worked as the head of the anesthesiology and resuscitation department at the Vitebsk Emergency Hospital; his contract was not renewed in April 2021. The doctor was persecuted after he spoke in non-state media about the fact that coronavirus mortality statistics were being hidden.
In February 2022, Martov was arrested for 7 days under Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Violation of the procedure for organizing or holding mass events). Dmitry was detained after the Telegram chat "Atolino" was designated an "extremist group" by the KGB on August 31 and added to the corresponding list of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on September 6.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs lists the names of the group's members: Pavel Ivanov, Dmitry Tikunov, Evgeniya Mostovaya (Grigorik), Pavel Belonitsky, Alexey Semenov, Yury Antonovich, Alexander Zaitsev, and Vladimir Polekh.
The prosecutor requested a 3-year prison sentence for Dmitry, but the court ultimately sentenced him to 2.5 years.
