The 35-year-old hard rock fan was initially charged with insulting a government official (Article 369 of the Criminal Code), insulting Lukashenko (Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code), and slandering Lukashenko (Part 1 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code).
Vitaly was detained on October 13, 2022 and placed in the Vitebsk pretrial detention center.
