Yuri was convicted for a comment left on July 2, 2020, addressed to Major General of the Police, then Minister of Internal Affairs Yuri Karaev, on the YouTube channel "OGP-TV". The comment was not read out in court, but its essence was as follows: "Karaev will get scared faster than he will tell the president that he will comply with the Constitution."
He was released in April 2024, having fully served his sentence as determined by the court.
