Ruslan was found guilty in February 2022 of "insulting a government official" for a comment he left on the social media site Odnoklassniki under a post featuring a photograph of Igor Volnich, a traffic police officer from the Gantsevichi District Department of Internal Affairs, pinning a man's head to the pavement with his knee.
According to human rights activists, he was released in December 2023, having fully served his sentence.
