In 2025, singer Roman Yurkov received a letter of gratitude from Lukashenko for supporting his candidacy in the last election. Just a month later, security forces detained the artist after they discovered comments he had written in 2020.
Roman was tried in September 2025 in the Minsk City Court. There were several hearings, and pro-government singers, the Gruzdeva sisters, spoke in his defense.
