Matvey is a fourth-year student in the history department of the Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University. He was arrested on November 10, 2021, right in the dean's office.
It is known that he was identified from a photo taken at the protest.
In August 2022, Matvey was found guilty in a criminal case brought under the articles "organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them" and "inciting hostility or discord," and was sentenced to imprisonment.
He was released in August 2023, having fully served his sentence.
