In October 2022, a "repentant video" appeared on pro-government Telegram channels featuring Mogilev resident Yevhen Olkhovyk, who had liked posts opposing the war in Ukraine. The intelligence agency-controlled channel "Svodki Tsentra" (Center Reports) noted that the detainee allegedly insulted Russian military personnel and thus "earned himself a charge of inciting ethnic hatred."
It is known that Evgeniy was imprisoned in Mogilev before the trial.
