Andrei was convicted for a comment he left on VKontakte about a government official, as well as for possessing a small amount of gunpowder left over from his hunting days. He was sentenced to restricted freedom with a referral.

It is known that on October 30, 2022, the political prisoner was detained in a penal colony and tried under an administrative charge for "disseminating extremist materials."

In June 2023, the court toughened the punishment, and Andrei was transferred to a penal colony for one year.

According to human rights activists, Andrei was released in the summer of 2024, having fully served his sentence.
