The prosecution stemmed from the man's comments in the "My Country Belarus" Telegram chat. The case was heard in 2026. He was held in pretrial detention before the trial. After the verdict, he filed an appeal to the Minsk Regional Court, which changed his sentence from three years in prison to four years of house arrest. The court of appeal took into account that Andrei Sheiko is a father of many children, including a child with a disability.
