Journalist for Radio Svaboda since 2004. Previously worked for the German state radio service. He is fluent in German, an expert on Germany, political contacts and relations with Belarus. He was deprived of accreditation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in August 2020, along with journalists from most foreign media.
Alexander was detained on July 16 during mass searches of independent journalists in Minsk and other cities of Belarus. He was detained in his parents' house in Postavy district. The journalist was placed in a temporary detention facility and was not released after 72 hours. It is known that he was detained for 10 days as part of a criminal case.
On December 15, 2022, the persecution of the journalist was stopped and the restrictions on not leaving Belarus were lifted.
