This statement was classified as an insult to a government official. Svetlana was convicted in March 2021 under the article for "participation in group actions that grossly violate public order." According to the prosecution, she took an active part in unauthorized mass protests on August 16 and 23, as well as September 6, 2020. During the protests, she clapped her hands, went out onto the roadway and, as alleged, interfered with the movement of public transport on Nemiga, Volodarsky, Lenin Streets and Independence Avenue, thereby violating public order.
According to human rights activists, Svetlana was released in June 2023 after serving her full sentence.
Elena, a teacher, was convicted in April 2021 under the article on slander and sentenced to restriction of freedom without direction and large financial compensation. The reason for the proceedings was a repost of information about police officers on a Telegram channel. After being detained in July 2022 in Ivanovo, where a wave of repression took place, her illness worsened and she was hospitalized. She later left Belarus.
