On November 13, Alexander Sezen was arrested . His apartment in a multi-apartment building on Gorbatova Street was searched. According to some reports, a later night search also took place while Sezen himself, who has significant health issues, was in the hospital. The charges against him are still unknown.
Alexander had been detained by police multiple times before 2020, and he had been involved in litigation with various government agencies and filed complaints.
Behind bars, the man lost a third of his body weight, endured harsh conditions in a punishment cell, refused to cooperate with agents, and faced abuse from prison doctors. He was released in the spring of 2026, straight from an IV drip in the prison hospital.
On March 19, 2026, he was pardoned after another visit to Minsk by US President Donald Trump's special representative, John Cole (among a group of 235 prisoners left in Belarus).
