On August 17, 2020, he issued a guilty verdict under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code against 2 demonstrators detained in Mogilev. On October 12, 2020, he issued a guilty verdict under Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses against a citizen detained in Mogilev. On October 15, 2020, he issued a guilty verdict under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code against 5 peaceful demonstrators detained in Mogilev. On October 16, 2020, he issued a guilty verdict under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code against 2 peaceful demonstrators detained in Mogilev. Convicted Vladimir Tsurpanov under Article 391 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 3 years of restriction of freedom with a transfer to an open correctional facility for insulting a judge.

Vladimir was sentenced to 3 years of restricted freedom for insulting a judge. In March 2021, a new criminal case was opened against him, and in June the court sentenced him to 2 years in a general regime penal colony for "evading serving a sentence." The charges were based on violations of the rules, such as lying on a bed at an unspecified time. Vladimir himself claimed that the case was fabricated in response to his demands for labor rights.
In April 2022, his punishment was increased and he was transferred to prison.
He was released in January 2023, having fully served his sentence as determined by the court.
